Steps To Take To Prevent Your Xbox 360 From Over Heating

The Xbox 360 system is known very well for over heating and breaking. The system has the worst fail rate in history at 54 percent. This shows that it is extremely important to take steps to ensure that your system won’t over heat.

The Xbox 360 uses a triple core CPU and a powerful GPU. Both the CPU and GPU are held to the motherboard using a ball grid array or BGA. A ball grid array is a grid of several small solder balls that hold the chip to the motherboard. If too much heat builds up inside the system it is possible that a solder ball can crack and cause the system to malfunction. This generally results in the infamous Red Ring Of Death.

The Xbox 360 is a small system and because of this it is easy for dirt and dust to clog an already tight lane for airflow. General maintenance is required to keep the Xbox 360 system functioning. The first step is to keep the Xbox 360 off of the floor. Dust falls to the floor and settles in carpet or on hard wood floors. The Xbox 360 system sucks tons of air in in order to cool both the GPU and CPU. When dust and dirt are sucked in it can become clogged and make it tough for air to flow through the system. Getting a can of compressed air and using it regularly to clean out the vent on the back of the system can help to keep the system working. Loosing up any dirt that may be stuck inside will make it easy for the internal fan to expel that dust when it is turned on. Finally an external fan is recommended as it can help to pull dirt and dust out of the system as well as pull extra air through the system.

The Xbox 360 is a very delicate system. If you can keep the system clean and maintained it will keep the system running well and hopefully it will never see the Red Ring Of Death.
